last week we had a day when the tide was much lower than i'd ever seen it before.  so a few of us had a wander round there and i tested out my newly acquired camera - a Nikon D70 - it's a revelation to edit in RAW, but i'm just starting to find out about it.  plus, the quality especially in low light is further superior than i had thought.  but my canon s3is has served me well for the last 2 years, having produced pretty much every picture on my blogs, so i won't be chucking it just yet.  anyway, here are a few picatures...  the berg above has been a feature of the point for many months, since it it firmly lodged on the bottom of the sea.  the large crack running down from near the summit indicates than at some point it's going to disintegrate quite spectacularly!

above, a blue-eyed shag lands just north of rothera.  a few bergs lie in the bay, with the wormald piedmont and the stokes ridge behind.

riet (foreground) also leant me his fisheye lens and i had some fun with that, having never used one before (this whole concept of interchanging lenses is a bit of a blank spot in my knowledge at the moment).  still haven't had a chance to record the guitar...

hello again - i have recorded a video of me playing a tune that i wrote on the guitar wot i built, and you can access it by right-clicking on the screenshot above and choosing "save as...", or "save target as..." or "save link as..." depending on your browser.

the sound isn't much good since it was recorded on a compact digital camera, but i think its quite nice anyway.  nice quality recordings will arrive when i have had the time to record them.

8 months after starting work on the first jigs and moulds for an acoustic steel-string guitar, i have finally finished one.  sounds & video to follow, but here is a photos....  it sounds great too, which is handy!
